Shane and I launched out of Skull Island around 5:30 yesterday afternoon and fished until 1AM.
Started off fish ledges on the main river. Marked lots of fish on my depth finder, started dropping my bait down towards several fish with most just following it but not biting it. Did end catch a couple largemouth that way. Maybe most of the rest were white bass or other species?
Anyways over the course of the trip we fished main river ledges, some docks, some bluffs, and fished a little around the nuclear plant. Best places were the bluffs and ledges.
We boated around 20 bass and a little drum. Mostly largemouth, 1 spotted bass and a couple really tiny smallmouth. Caught fish on dropshots with either finesse or flukes, texas rigged finesse and our biggest of the night (around 12AM) on a carolina rig w/ 10 black worm. The biggest went 20.50" long and ran anywhere between 4 and 4.5lbs.
Not a bad night, but still it was pretty slow. Looking foward to fishing the Chick more often until that Parksville bite picks back up. Hopefully it will soon, the fish up there are hard to get to bite. But once that water temp gets into the high 80s and up into the 90s the topwater bite should be on.
Oh and I will NOT be anywhere near the water this weekend! emoBang
