Met Gator at CFP this morning and we set out to catch a few crappie. It was a tough day, we had to work hard for every fish, and never did get a strong consistant bite going. We fished deep docks, structure, bluffs, and deadfall tree. Our best fish came from deep docks, but we had to move around a lot to find them.

We managed 36 crappie with 20 very nice keepers, up to 13 3/4". Yes I had another "almost TARP". I am stuck on the 1/4" short. The almost TARP was released to grow a bit and 19 went home with Gator. Rest were smalls from 8-10 inches. Also had 1 spot, bluegill, and channel cat for a little mixed bag.

My fish were caught on the usual BG Shad in Bluegrass and Blue Thunder mostly 1/32 jigs. Gator(Ernie) was using stubby butts, and PA's mostly 1//32. Some of the small fish hit hard, but the larger fish were very subtle sucking in the bait, and you had better watch the line for movement or change. Got pretty windy as the day went on and that did not help the bite detection. We missed a lot of fish, and caught a couple that surprised us. The hot sun finally drove us off the lake, (too lazy to put up the bimini top). Ernie will probably post the rest of the pictures when he checks in.

Had a good time fishing with Ernie as usual. He keeps talking about my Yamaha 4 stroke, I think he is considering a new boat, lol. Hard work today, but a good time was had by all.

Regards, Labman
