I got out for a couple hours yesterday evening to work the topwater bite before dark. Had a small non-keeper on the first cast, but the size never picked up on topwater after that. I switched to the blade to work a grass line and immediately hooked up with a couple that would just measure, but still nothing over 2#. So I caved in and picked up the cannon--something I normally wouldn't do last hour of daylight--and that was definitely the ticket. We boated another 5 chunks (slam full of shad) after that, nothing big but all of them in the solid 3+lb range. Most important is that they were absolutely choking the bait, much similar to the success I was having with the topwater last week. I was flipping Big Bite plastics on heavy flourocarbon, and it seemed the"in-between" shades/colors worked best given the daylight and water clarity.

Jake
