I got below the dam around 6:15 on Saturday morning and started drifting shiners below the boils, picked up about 4 smallmouth, 2 largemouth, a spot, a channel and a blue cat. That bite was dead after the 4th boat ran right up the drift line below the turbines so I went over to the bank near where the new lock will end and spooked a little ways down picking up one spot and missing a couple of bites. I switched to a blue and black jig to try and catch that first danged jig fish and I had one that thumped it a couple of times but when I went to set the hook the line snapped almost immediately, never even felt the weight of the fish. Tied another jig on but didn't get any more bites on it so I picked up a shakeyhead and caught 3 spots on it but lost probably 10... I just couldn't get the hookset in them! I noticed I hit the channel ledge pretty close to the bank so I switched to a big 10 inch watermelon worm c-rigged and dragged it for awhile, but I coudn't for the life of me go more than 50 feet without hanging up, which I know is a good thing but so annoying, I started the big motor up 8 or 9 times to go unstick it with only 1 bite to show for it... it was bout 9:45 by then and it was already getting a little warm and I had things to do so I packed it in. I thought I knew how to fish the riverpark but I really am dependent on live bait right now to catch any size and i don't like it.. I need someone to show me how to jig fish down there.
