Oregon Fishing Report
#1
The Guide's Forecast - volume 3 issue number 24
Northwest Oregon's most complete and accurate fishing forecast

Forecasting for the fishing week of October 26th - November 8th, 2001

Fisheries update: Salmon fishing on the Columbia is rumored to have picked up in the Bonneville area. Sturgeon fishing remains great in the Bonneville area for keepers, shakers and still a few oversize fish! Trojan and even Tongue Point are still responsible for decent fishing!

Tillamook district has been slow and shouldn’t improve dramatically until the first of next month. Tidewater fishing has picked up significantly however and the recent rain freshet gave upriver drift-boaters a crack at them! The Wilson River and particularly the Trask have shown some action to bobber fishermen recently. Tidewater on the Nestucca and Salmon Rivers has also been providing sporadic action. Trask and Nehalem remain open to hatchery coho through the end of the month.

While mild tides aren't optimum for fishing in the bays, this weekend will provide some stellar crabbing, so take those nets and pots.

The Sandy and Clackamas Rivers are booting out a few darker fish but bright fish may be available in short supply on the lower ends. They are still hard to entice! Last chance for Sandy and Clackamas coho is Halloween day. North Santiam anglers are finding those nice, numerous steelhead are more cooperative with the lower water temperatures.

Rogue River half-pounders are available in good number on the upper stretches.

Dexter Reservoir is scheduled for planting of hatchery trout again this week.

Soapbox update: The wild broodstock program is a go for the Nestucca River! Thanks for testifying NSIA, Oregon Wildlife Heritage Foundation and Tillamook Guide’s Association! Many good opportunities ahead!

Get access to the complete paid subscriber's pages for FREE this week only at http://www.theguidesforecast.com/

Get more Oregon fishing information at
http://www.theguidesforecast.com
