Gator, Chick, Crappie, 6/11/10, Labman
#1
The Labman met me at Chester Frost Boat Ramp at 6:30 this morning for some crappie fishing. The weather seemed just about right so we expected a good day and we had one. We fished docks mostly but also some bluffs and verticle type structure, most fish were near or on bottom in anywhere from 10 to 25 ft. of water. Current was pretty strong for a while too. We used 1/16 (in current or bluffs) and 1/32 under docks if current wasn't too bad. Mostly BG shads today in various colors, including Blue Grass, Red, Blue, white, all with tail lights of course. The total was 45 or 46 crappie with 28 keepers along with a bass or two and a couple catfish also. We fished until it was just too hot for me about 1:00 or so and gave up. Water temp 79 in the early am and 80 or 81 when we left. We did see DrumKing and Hal today and TODAY is DrumKing's birthday. Happy Birthday again DK!! It was a great day to be on the water and Labman is an excellent fishing partner. Let's do it again soon Norman. emoPoke
