Colby and I got on the water around 6:15 this morning for a couple hours.
This morning was slow and tough. We focused on sharp drops with dropshots, t-rigs, and fish head spins.
We caught 8 spots. With a few keepers. The biggest was an 18.25" spot with a nice gut. I had a good one actually break off at the boat that looked like it would've gone 4+ emoBang
Also had one in 15FTOW that started peeling drag and the hook pulled loose emoDoh What ever that fish was I never felt him shake his head. Couldve been a huge largemouth, huge spot, big catfish...? Will never know.
There was some schooling fish after shad on top. They would come up about every 5 minutes but only for a couple seconds, so there was not enough time to get the bait to them before they would swim back into the depths. They did pop right beside the boat and swam straight to the bottom under the boat, the depth finder was covered with fish!
It was a nice morning out there, hated to loose those big fish. Its not too often a fish will break my 10lb flourocarbon line with my drag as loose as it is. Those big spots can get mean!
I'll be adding a pic of the biggest this morning. Good luck and be safe on the water. emoThumbsup
