The river has been running big and dirty up there. Flows were at 42,000 for a while. Be careful and let us know how you do. Ron

Just got done reserving the boat rental from Brownlee Charters. I plan on trying Brownlee for a day during our "Oxbow" trip. Hopefully we can find a few crappie like that.

We had pretty good luck up there considering the wind and weather. I got there and met Idahobigfish and a few others wednesday morning around 7am.

Counted no less than 6 boats come to the launch on both sides and turn right around after seeing the swells on the water.

Anyways, I thought we did pretty well considering the gale force winds and the 50 degree weather. Fished from about 7am-9am to the right of the boat docks and caught 3 cats and a sucker fish.

Fished on the other side of the railroad tracks to escape the wind from about 9-3pm with lunch in the middle. It slowed down (obviously) but we still pulled in a few cats.

Water calmed down a bit so we boated down about half a mile downstream and found a rad beach area and stayed there until about 9pm. Everyone hooked into some real nice cats, and one guy even caught about a 17" smallie. Here are some cell phone pics of the cats we kept...

Nick about summed up the trip. I might want to add that those pictures are short 4 fish. Some of us are a little challenged when it comes to stringer management myself included. We had a blast. It was my first trip to Steck and won't be my last. Oh for you info junkies most everything was biting on Nicks secret, gag a maggot stink bait in the morning and as it warmed up sucker cut bait and herring cut bait some on earth worms. It was odd no action at night.
