drumking, chickamauga, crappie, 6/15/10, Dr Phillip Gawthrop
#1
Tuesday AM means a short trip with Dr Phillip G. We fished for crappie (30) and got into some schooling bass. Putting topwater lures on, we had a blast for just a few minutes. The bass were just around 14-15 inches, but much fun to see them blow up a zara puppy. We were in the middle of the river channel over 40' of water when they started schooling. We set our TM on high and just chased them until we ran out of time. We were nearly out of time when they first started schooling or I would have stayed there for a while longer.

The crappie were deep and caught off bluffs, vertical structures and a channel edge of the river. We caught a few off a couple of docks. I think that altogether, I caught 6 or 7 bass and Phil caught about 3 bass. The crappie were caught on bg shads in blue ghost and bleeding shad. About 50/50 on the two lures. I did get a small bluegill on a jig as they were schooling too. I was hoping to see some white bass, but never did. Several boats catfishing at the nuke. emoBigSmile emoGeezer
