2010 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Championship Announces Record Registrations
#1
SAN ANTONIO, Texas, May 18, 2010 -- A record-setting field has registered to compete in the BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship.

Three hundred and thirty collegiate anglers from across the nation are set to compete for the national championship title on May 27 and 28 at Lake Lewisville, Texas. These talented anglers have competed over the past year to earn the right to represent their schools at this prestigious event.

"Most of these anglers will be coming right out of final exams week and hitting the road, traveling from as far away as Oregon and Virginia," said BoatUS Foundation Director of Boating Safety, Chris Edmonston. "We'll be there if they have any breakdowns on the road or water, and help them stay on top of the action during the tournament," he added.

The competitors will practice fish on May 25 and 26 on Lake Lewisville. Following practice on May 25, the Cabela's retail store in Ft. Worth, Texas, will host Cabela's Collegiate Bass Fishing Day where the anglers will enjoy meeting professional bass anglers Denny Brauer, Jeff Kriet, Mike McClelland and Kelly Jordon who will be on hand providing seminars and shopping assistance. Every two-person team attending the event will be provided a $100 Cabela's gift card.

Registration and the pre-tournament banquet/rules meeting will take place on the evening of the 26th. Event sponsors will have displays for the purpose of providing information about their products and services as well as product samples. This year's event will provide over $90,000 in scholarships, prizes and product giveaways for the collegiate anglers competing at this year's championship along with numerous other promotional benefits and discounts from the wide array of sponsors supporting the event.

The full field of anglers will compete on May 27 and 28. They will take off at safe light each morning from Sneaky Pete's and return for weigh-in beginning at 3:00 p.m. Careco Multimedia will have camera teams on hand to capture all the action for the BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship television series which will air on the Versus network this fall as part of a dedicated eighteen half-hours of television coverage showcasing the BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Series which is sanctioned by the Association of Collegiate Anglers. Full coverage to include updates from the water is available at www.collegiatebasschampionship.com.

"This is widely regarded as the premier event in college bass fishing and this year's field is packed with talent. Many of the teams competing have earned their way to represent their college at this year's championship by fishing against other members from their school the past year, so just being able to fish this event is a major accomplishment no matter who finishes first or last. This event is a one-of-a-kind experience," said Wade Middleton, Tournament Director.
