Got out this morning about 7:00 with my son in law Jordan. We were hoping for a great day of bass fishing. It was a beautiful morning and not real hot but the fish just wouldn't cooperate emoBang . We started on a point over a shell bed hoping for some schooling fish. Zilch emoHoppingmad . Next we went to a grass edge in 8' of water with the same results -- a big fat zero emoRedface . I decided to move down river to a slough right off the main channel that has deeper water along with some trees. You guessed it another big fat goose egg emoScratch . Well I know that everyone has been catching them on main lake ledges and humps so off we went. I couldn't believe my eyes when I pulled right up to the main lake hump I wanted to fish and no body was there emoTongue no it turned into emoMad cause the reason no one was already there was cause the fish weren't there cause they weren't pulling any water emoEnforce . After this I was smelling the skunk in the boat real bad so we went to one last place and I saw some baitfish that looked pretty nervous. I have always admired the way Jmax can work a spook and catch fish even in the middle of the day so I thought what the heck and tied one on. After only a cast or two I had a good hit and the fight was on. Jordan lipped it for me and it was 21" long and 5 1/2 lbs (pic attached) emoThumbsup . I thought we were going to be onto something. We each managed to hook smaller fish but they came unhooked right at the boat. We finished the day fishing another deep slough and Jordan managed to catch several with the best one pictured. He caught it on a blue finesse worm. We got off the water about 2:30. The water temp was 87 - 88 degrees. Even though we didn't catch a lot of fish I really enjoyed trying to learn to fish the spook and as always Jordan is good company.
