For those of you who haven't seen it, the Teton River just woke up. The water level is down to normal and is clearing up. After 4 months of no activity, fish were jumping out of the water today! After work I fished for 15 minutes and landed 2 14" cutts, and a 20" cutt.

Were you fly fishing? If so, what flies do you use? I still haven't figured out what flies to use on the Teton.

Sorry, not fly fishing. Those cutts love a good ol' kastmaster.
By the way, we need more fishing reports on this forum. I know many of us go fishing every weekend, yet there are so few reports on here. I feel that if you use this forum and read others fishing reports, you are obligated to post your own fishing reports in respect to everyone else.

Curious as to what stretch of the Teton you are referring too? Not looking for real specifics just a general comment.
Thanks,

Thanks for the report. I too love the Teton.
As for other people giving reports. You are right, but a lot of people just don't feel comfortable reporting yet. If we keep working to provide a comfortable environment for people to talk fishing more will post in the future. Keep up the good work.

The river is still hot as can be. Fished for another 10 minutes this morning and caught another 3 cutts, 15 and 16".
The teton river is catch and release only right? An older gentleman told me that it wasn't.

I believe all cutts must be released. You can keep a limit of rainbows or browns. I will have to look it up to make sure that I am right.

It is catch and release on all species. It has a 0 bag limit.

I think the above is the correct answer.
The 0 bag limit applies to cutts.

I have only caught cutts in the Teton River. Are there browns and rainbows in the Teton?

Unless something has changed- back in the 90's they started managing the Teton river as a wild fishery- meaning no more stocking- so anyone rainbows and browns have to have been from them or offspring there of. So you probably will only catch cutts.

I caught this thing in the Teton River today, certainly not a cutt, rainbow, or brown. Anybody know what this is, and if it's common in the Teton?

That is your average Teton R. Chub. Not scientific name of course. The Rainbows come up from the Snake R. and the Browns are found up higher near the dam.

Sounds like you have a nice little honey hole!
I Went out to the Teton this morning for about 15 minutes and didnt get much. I was between classes so i didnt spend much time looking for anywhere special. I just went to Eagle Park here in Rexburg and fished from the shore into some deep holes. I managed one little cutt on a kastmaster.

There are two bridges that cross the Teton on the West side of Rexburg. Give those a shot, between 7-10am is best.

Thanks for the info! I always look down there and wonder why i dont fish over there! I golf a lot at the course by the bridges and sometimes see fish under the bridge on the course.

Pretty sure the 0 bag limit only applies to the cuts.
