Well, some days it is just your day and today was our day.
We hit the water around 5:45 after work and hit a hump that had been producing good this year. It was the dead sea. So I decided to ride up river and fish a ledge that I have not fished all year and let me tell you we hit the JACKPOT.
Pulled up on the ledge and just marked a TON of fish. On Alvin's first cast he gets a 3-3.5 lber to the boat that got off. My 2nd cast I boat a 16" keeper. I threw out the marker bouey and we never left that spot until dark. To keep a long story short below is the list of what we boated:
20 largemouth (18 off the ledge, 2 from the grass and 1 after dark on a 10" worm)
1 nice spot
15 white bass (biggest was almost 17&quotWink
1 yellow bass
4 blue cats (largest 10 lbs)
1 channel cat
5 drum
We would get a hit on almost every single cast. The largemouths were on first until about 7:30-8 and then the whites turned on. We had 9 keepers tonight with our best 5 going: 4.36, 3.05, 2.85, 2.85, and 2.85. Best 3 went 10.26 lbs and the best 5 went 15.96. All fish were caught on drop shot 4" Glup powerminnows exept 3: 2 were out of the grass at dark on a chigger craw and 10" worm, and Alvin got the 4.36 lber after dark off structure on a 10" worm.
I had 3 fish that were all twins at 2.85 lbs each and the 3.05 lber was the sickest fish I have ever seen. It should have went 5 lbs easy and had a hole in the bottom of its mouth were it had been on a culling system in a tourny and was not handled properly.
Alvin and I both stuck multiple LARGE fish that pulled loose. I fought one for about a minute before the hook pulled. We think they were big drum as I don't think the hooks would pull loose from the leathery mouth of a big cat.
We boated 7 species today and 47 fish total. The ledge went from 22 feet to 45 feet or so and the LM were on top and the stripe were on the bottom of the ledge.
If you are curious to the rigs and bait we were using check out my post on dropshotting at http://www.chattanoogafishingforum.com/f...rt=1
