Hal, Chick - Sale Creek area, Crappie, Bass & 'Gills, 7-09-10, Fitter Floyd
#1
I picked one of my Pipe Fitter friends up at Soddy Tackle this AM about 5:30 and headed out to the lake for some crappie hunting. We were in the water by 6 AM and the hunt was on. We fished bluffs, docks, deep structure and bridge pilings, (yes we found the right piling!) The fish were deep today but willing all day to play. It wasn’t fast but it was steady and fun. Floyd caught his share, learning the art of dock shooting and watching the “twitch” of the line, emoThumbsup We ended the day about 1 PM just as the sprinkles started with 40 crappie, 1 bass, 3 or 4 ‘gills and one of DK’s pets that was about 6 or 7 lbs, emoSmile We kept 30 crappie, all but 2 were over 11 inches so we had some nice slabs with several over 13.emoThumbsup I was on the spot as guide today since Floyd’s wife said we’d better bring her some crappie home for an upcoming fish fry, emoHungry
Now Catfish1 can’t ride Floyd about his “catchin’” cause he caught his share! emoPoke
Most fish were caught in 20+ FOW and the count was mostly 10 or more. Bait of choice was BG Bleeding Shad or Crystal Shad. I did catch a couple on Patriot, all with tail lights and mostly on 1/32nd leadheads, emoThumbsup Water temps were between 82* & 87* The water is really warming up with all this heat and emoSun
