Had a long, hot but great day on the river Saturday. Put in at Racoon Mtn. Ramp @ 7 AM by myself. Tried top water down river around grass for the first couple hours. I caught a couple 2 pounders. had several short hits that I missed. I threw flukes, flippin tubes & vib worms over the grass. By 12 noon I had only boated three Bass. I picked my grandaughters stepdad, Jammie up at the boat ramp a @ 12:30 and we started all over again. Went up river and fished the rock banks with spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Caught a couple each but had three good ones on that looked like at least 3 lbs. We finally went back down river between Racoon mtn. and Sullivans where I hooked into what I thought would be my HOF bass. It hit like a freight train pulling drag on my baitcaster like it wasn't even there. When I first got a glimpse of it in the water it looked like a 8 to 10 pounder. I finally was able to tighten my drag while holding my thumb on the spool as I fought the Bass Hog. Jammie got so excited, he was screeming, "You got a Big-un, It's a Big-un" He grabbed the net and started probing the water. I told him to calm down and wait until I at least got the fish to the boat. Jammie finally was able to net the Bass. It was a Big-un, I thought it would weigh at least 7 to 8lbs.

I couldn't believe the scales when it read 4.7 lbs.

It had the head and length of an 8 pounder and the girth of a 4 pounder.

We ended the day with Jammie catching seven good bass and I caught eight and one bream.

I got some good pictures of a young Osprey in it's nest.
