Bprice, Guntersville, Bass, Week of 5 July 2010
#1
Took the whole week off last week, and spent each day on the lake.
Monday - Started in the mouth of Browns Creek, looking for that deep bite. We fished a variety of structure and areas, but turned up empty handed. Headed towards the back of Browns and finally located some fish on a shallow hump. Most were Buck Gonzales, but we ended up putting together a 13 lb string. Not too pumped, but compared to most out there Monday it was a decent day.
Tuesday - fished half day after work out of Waterfront and located some quality fish near the mouth of Short Creek. We found them relating to sparse grass in 7-9 FOW and they only wanted texas rigged power worms. The lighter you went the better. I didn't swim the worm, but fished it more like a jig. best five around 18 lbs.
Wednesday - tough day. Ended up giving up on popular methods and we busted out the silver buddies and Lil Georges over shell beds. Caught a variety of fish all day long on shell beds; largemouths, spots, yella bass, cats, and drum. Its been so tough all week, this was a welcomed change.
Friday - had a little current early so we fished channel ledges near South Sauty and we found fish wanting to eat Dixie Jig Works Football Jigs. By 7:30 a.m. We boated 4 around 4 lbs, and I lost a no doubt 8 lber at the boat. Asked Hammer for help landing the fish, and he poked around and the bass jumped and slung my 1 oz Football Head right back at me. Oh well. The fish really were relating to ledges with sharp breaks and lots of bait.
