Provo River
#1
Fly Fished the lower Provo River for the first time [Smile] on saturday from 8:00 am to about 12:00pm we caught a couple of bows so I guess not to bad for the 1st time out .
My question is does anybody know why the river is flowing so high right now?
My buddy I was with stated he has never seen the Provo so high in the middle of august before.

Road has mentioned that they are doing work on the dam to seismically reinforce the dam. Therefore in order to do the work they have increased the flows out of deer creek.

That's right. They are going to drain Deer Creek down some so that they can make the damn withstand earthquakes up to 7.5 on the Richter Scale.

Thx LoanFish and Cat_Man

Do you know how low Deer Creek will be lowered to? Is it going to be lower than it was last year?...Unable to launch a boat from either ramp.

they traditionally run the provo high in the summer anyway. just no quite that fast of flow. i have been by there several times this last few weeks and seen the gates are wide open on deer creek. lets hope they dont let too much out before winter.
