Steve had been PMing me a while to show him how I drop shot the powerminnows. We put in at HBSP around 5 and headed up river to where Alvin and I killed them last week. They were still there. Steve's first bass was a 3 lber that got off right at the boat (easily netable if I had a net) and Steve woud later lose another 3 lber at the boat again. We proceeded to work this area with jigging spoons and drop shots and got 17 bass, 4 whites, about 6 yellows, 2 drum and 4 blue cats. Not bad for a Sunday afternoon.
Left there around 7:30 and headed down to my favorite shell beds and would you know it Polo was fishing MY spot and catching MY fish.emoPoke emoLaugh So being the polite gentlemen (and since it was the Chick after all), we joined him and his partner. We ended up boating 4 more bass there and a blue cat. I lost a solid 3 lber at the boat and hooked another one that felt good and my line broke (bad spot I am sure).
Left the deep stuff and hit some grass at 8:30 and boated 2 more bass on chigger craws. Gave up just after 9 and headed home.
So totals for today: 22 largemouth (about 7-8 keepers, lost three 3lber class fish at the boat as well), 1 keeper spot, 4 nice whites, 6 yellows, 2 small drum, 5 blue cats and a bluegill. Not bad for Sunday afternoon.
Thanks for riding with me tonight Steve, hope you learned what you needed on the drop shot, I know I learned a new trick with the jiggin spoon.
