Gonna need you to define big..... Size relativity is species dependant.

If you just want a big fish. I would go for cat fish or the Steelhead they put in the Boise R.

The "Westsiders" would know more about that then me, but thats the direction I would go.

If you want close and big then catfish should be your target. You got Lake Lowell and the Snake River within a short drive. Even Caldwell Ponds has some big cats. My buddy got one a few days ago over 10 lbs out of the ponds. Try the Caldwell dam at the lake or the river at the airport in Homedale. Search the posts for more info on local cat holes. There's some great info from not to far back. Tight Lines [fishon]

Glad to hear that you are reaching your goals. It is funny how our goals change. Sometimes its numbers, sometimes weight, and sometimes it just to not get skunked.

It is good to hear your tuning in on the cats. I like to only keep what I can eat that week. Freezing cats just is not a great idea, they just don't keep well for long periods of time. Keep the 18" to 21" and turn back the big ones once and a while. A 21" cat in Idaho is over 10 years old. And the big ones are not as good to eat as the little ones. Ron

thanks Ron.it was awesome, catching that catfish! but i didn't measure it. but we did weigh it with a digital scale. i thought it had to be at least two feet.but then again, i just dont know. that is so cool to think i caught a 10 year old catfish.

if that cat was 4 1/2 lb's ,then how many inches could it have been ??

i never did plan to eat these fish but i'm willing to give it a try with the right recipe.
thanks for the info on that....i think i'm gonna eat one!

10 years old !!.[fishon]WOW on that
