Bear River
#1
Do any of you Cat fisherman have any suggestions on where to go & what to use on the Bear River? I've heard of people having some limited luck somewhere in the bird refuge area. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.[Smile]

The fishing on the bear has been picking up the last couple years. My next door neighbor and a buddy went out back of the house and caught a fifteen pounder earlier this year. The kid across the street has caught several six pounders out of there. Theres a ton of the little buggers too.

The bird refuge has traditionally been a good spot to get some nice fish, the reaqson being, that the actual refuge is not fishable. But in the past few years the drought has not been able to keep water in the refuge during summer and the big boys have had to move up into the river and have become vulnerable to harvest. I havent heard as many good reports from there in the last four years.

Theres some real concerns with the water levels on the river these poast few years. The island near the bridge in corinne has only gone under water for a couple weeks the past couple years, then its out of the water the rest of the year due to low water.

I would bet the low water and the murkyness of it has taken its toll on the walleyes that have been in there as well.
