Had a chance to take a buddy of mine from Atlanta fishing Friday. John hardly ever gets out fishing so I was hoping the 100 degree heat and bright sun would not deter the fish from biting. We put in at Chester Frost about 4 pm and it was hot!! emoSun Went to a deep area of forty to twenty feet and with four people in the boat I just rigged everyone up with jigging spoons. emoAngler Already had one trip to the hospital with a treble hook buried in flesh so did not want a repeat. Took a little while to find some schools - they were tight to the bottom so if you do not have your unit on zoom you will end up seeing just a thin line above the bottom and not think much about it. I attached a screen shot of the zoomed in fish so you can see what the zoom does. This same group of fish look like a thin line when you zoom out. I meant to take a few more screen shots showing some shad balls and feeding fish but when your the guide and running the trolling motor un hooking fish etc it gets a little crazy especially when you are getting doubles and triple hookups. Wish I had some bigger spoons becahse we had a lot of swallowed spoons. The water temp on the surface was 91 to 93 degrees so if the fish did not get in the water quickly they ended up in the livewell for the freezer. Just a caution - brining them up out of cool water to the HOT water on top shocks them unless you can get them unhooked and back in the deep water quickly!! Day was hot and we all got sun burned even with the sunscreen but ended the day with around 100+ fish with very few that did not survive a release. Only caught one LM bass???? emoScratch Usually more would have been caught - wonder if TX fishing pressure has something to do with that. White Bass were caught the most and there were some big white bass. If you go after the white bass keep your spoon above the fish off the bottom and use quick jerks. Lots of drum!! Tripled on drum and had some nice doubles. Yellow bass, cats, one crappie that was caught deep and fought hard but died at the surface so ended up on dinner table emoHungry a few stripers in the two pound range. Lots of fun! Tight lines!
