A college buddy and his son were in town looking at colleges as Evan will graduate next year. They looked at UTC yesterday and met me for dinner last night. Of course, part of our conversation was about fishing and they were interested in seeing how we catch them down here so we went fishing with jigging spoons from about 7:30 to 10 this morning. At the first stop we caught some and had a couple of LMs with lots of yellows. The fishing slowed and so we moved to a main lake area that I had just found last week, a ditch that runs through a flat on the main lake and the yellow bass were stacked there. We caught large numbers of fish there including a LM or two. On one cast I had a LM come up to the boat trying to get the jigging spoon out of a Yellow bass's mouth. He stayed for about 30 seconds as I tried to get him hooked too but finally he swam away. For a second or two I thought that I had him hooked but he was just lipping the spoon as when I got the yellow into the boat I could see as often times they do that all three hooks of the treble were in his mouth. Too bad that there wasn't at least one of the three hooks for the LM to get hooked on outside the yellow's mouth as he surely would have been hooked. We didn't keep count but much of the time we were catching fish on nearly every cast and had triples many times. We probably caught between 50 and 70 yellows and 4-5 keeper LMs, none being more than 16-17 inches. I was really thankful that we were able to get on some fish as there didn't seem to be much flow. Great fun for a few hours on a Saturday before the sun got too hot. It was very warm by the time we left the water. Dean may send me a couple of pics that he took on his cell phone and I will post them later.<br />
