Mom is visiting from Florida for a while and has been asking about going fishing some time. Decided to give it a go this AM for a big cat bite. Hit a couple different bluffs and found some nice golden shiners in the cast net, perfect to go along with skip-jack.
It was already getting hot, and I had just said lets move after sitting on our fist spot for a while. I heard a rod running and picked it up feeling a good fish and handed it off to mom. It was a very mean fish and took lots of drag making deep, long runs. After a rodeo/circus of reeling up other rods, the fish getting hung around the motor once, circling the boat twice and when it came up, she was stunned. emoEek emoEek
Got the fish in the net and it was a tad under 50 lbs with a monster head on it. I would sure hate to get ahold of this fish in a spawning hole come next May.emoBig
The fish hit a live golden shiner in about 42 FOW.
Got one small pull on a piece of chicken breast and then we tried some other places that never produced another bite. Although while at one i did catch a very nice crappie on a panfish assasin.
We left about 11:30 when it hit 94*. emoBang She may have disslocated her shoulder she says, so might have a trip to the ER today.

Of course with Spurluck something had to happen, so while going over some big wake, mom was leaning to her left to stay off the hip she is having to replce soon and she came up off the seat and and then crashed down hard on the floor of the boat. emoBang
