Got out a little later today. When I came out of CFP there were 5 boats sitting on the end of Dallas Island, lol. I didn't know it was that good a spot. Somebody must have been reading the reports. emoLaugh

Was pretty slow early, I got a couple decent fish at my first stop in about 25' of water on a gulp minnow on dropshot rig. This was a main channel ledge and fish were holding about 1/2 way down the second drop. Got 1 more keeper on jigging spoon and a couple of dinks working grass edge on a spinner bait. About 9:30 the wind got up a little and had a pretty good chop on the water. Fishing got much better after that.

I forgot to mention in my last report that i have changed line to florocarbon on my dropshot rod. I think the sensitivity is a lot better than mono. May be just trying to justify the cost, lol. When I hit one of my open water humps I marked the fish holding on top of the drop (see screenshot) instead of down on the drop. Also a ton of bait there too. I usually dropshot vertically and drop in right on their nose, but usually in deeper water. I thought I would try a horizontal presentation by casting out the gulp minnow and using the weight as a "walking sinker, jigging in place, then dragging the rig toward the boat a couple of feet and stopping again. It seemed to work ok. Caught 7 nice bass on that one spot and a couple of cats.

I am going to rest the dropshot and concentrate on jig and tubes for a couple of outings to see if I can learn to fish them correctly. The screen shot shows what I look for when trying to find fish. I caught 2 of the fish shown as soon as the bait got down to them. I love doing that, lol. The fish are out there, just takes some looking to find them feeding. Headed in about 11:15.

Regards, Labman
