I put in at Chick. Marina about 7am and started out fishing docks with grass using plastic worms and topwater - nada. Went to the Chick. Dam powerhouse where 2 generators were sucking water in - nada. Started looking for fish on dropoffs into the river channel, found a spot I had never fished before, dropped a marker, dropped a jigging spoon - bang, a hard hit and my 10 lb. line broke setting the hook. Something didn't look right, so I checked my marker and the weight was suspended 3 ft. under it floating down the river. I had bought a cuople of orange markers at Acadamy Sports and they won't unwind. I actually unwound one completely, rewound it and it still won't unwind - Bleepin' Chinese string, I guess! Had to start looking for my spot all over again and dropped an older trusty marker. Came up with a 3.75 LM, 3 drum, and a couple of yellow bas and missed some hits. Looked at other dropoffs but didn't see many fish. Decided to try for crappie at docks and bluffs - nada except for a small spot. Went back to the powerhouse - nada. The wind died down a little and I went back to my dropoff (20-30ft.) for my final stop. That's when my personal best blue cat latched on to my jigging spoon, 41 or 42 in. and 35-37 lbs. on my old Cabela grip. Found a couple of gents who were taking out that were nice enough to take my picture.

The current was 25K cfs and the water temp about 85.
