Went fishing at L. Perris today
#1
Started out using a Pop-R. I was fishing near a dock where they launch boats. I hooked a 3lb'r, he jumped once, dove down and wrapped me on something, I walked out onto the dock to try to get him loose, two jerks, then SNAP!! @#$%! I lost my new Pop-R and of course did not have another one. I ended up with 3 small bass for the morning. The conditions seemed right but it was a tough bite.

Atleast you didnt get skunked! lol.

I've recently picked up fishing this year and have only fished at DVL and I always fished for trout. Until today, A gentlemen convinced me into trying to fish for bass. No luck unfortunately just a couple bites. But anyways I've been wanting to try fishing at lake Perris because i just moved to Moreno Valley. And I was wondering if you have any tips? I only shore fish, will that be an issue at Lake Perris? Lemme know. Thanx alot!

Hi eg-fisher,
I taught myself how to bass fish just by watching other people. The more you go for bass, the better you will get. Experience and time on the water is key. You will eventually find out what works at different places. Just keep trying new baits and experimenting with colors. If you are just starting, I recommend sticking with a 4 or 6 inch worm. Experiment until you find out what the fish want.
When you get bit don't be impatient, wait until the fish actually pics up the bait and starts swimming with it to set the hook. Make sure that your drag is set before casting.
Perris unfortunately has not been that great from shore since they dropped the water level. A lot of the good structure is now out of the water. It has been a tough bite.
Good spots to try at Perris is the launch ramp area and the marina.
With this advice I only ask that you catch and release. If you get a big one just take a picture and let the fish go to fight another day.
DVL is an excellent lake but has been slow from shore lately. Maybe when the weather starts to cool down it will pick back up.
Let me know next time you go, maybe I will meet you there.

Well I went yesterday and had a blast. I ended up renting a boat and fishing near the island and caught three Bass each right around 11-12inches long. and I was using a 4 inch worm. It was pretty kool. My brother also caught a nice big one down by the marina, everyone said i was like 16 inches (i dunno how much it weighed). So that was pretty cool. We did end up releasing all the fish we caught. unfortunately my brother left the camera in the truck. But I will definately be back. Thanx for the advice and I'll definately let u know the next time I head out to see if you'd like to meet up.

watching others is a great way to learn new tricks,

I have found tho when no one is catching any thing, try doing something no one else is doing.
