Got out with Jimmy again today before he heads of to fish a FLW tourny in New York next week. We started the day off in Wolftever fishing some docks and got a big fat zero for our efforts. Decided to try the main creek channel and that was the ticket as we marked fish the whole time we were in the channel. I drew first blood with a nice 3.5 lber on a drop shot powerminnow. Jimmy gets our next one, a chunky 4.4 lber on a deep diving crank. I get the next one, another nice 3 lber on DS PW and add a short a few minutes later. Pick up a swimbait and get our 4th keeper, a skinny 16 incher. Not a bad way to start the day. Made a move over to a deep water bank and I stick another 3-3.5 lber on a shakey head that pulls off at the surface.emoBang We pick up a couple of yellows and the bite died.
We headed out to the main river channel and see BassERT on our way out. The wind was blowing pretty good and the clouds were not looking to friendly. We ended up hitting about 4-5 various humps and drops and manage one more keeper spot to round out our 5 fish limit. Left out at 12 or so to beat the rain and went straight to Kevin Browns for a burger.emoCool
Our best 5 today would have went around 14 lbs and out best 3 would have went around 11 lbs. If I had boated the one that got off on the shakey head we would have had around 16 lbs. Still not a bad day considering the horrible weather conditions.
I will be following Jimmy as he fishes the New York tourny and then when they come to the Chick. Going to be interesting to see how these guys do down here in Sept.
