Got to the ramp right at 6am this morning. Since it was still dark and I had never been on this lake before I decided just to put the trolling motor down and fish until it was light enough to see. Was a great choice. I rounded the corner from the ramp and began down a nice bank with a lot of laydowns. By the time it was light enough to see a bit ( about 6:45ish) I had already put a limit of 2lbers in the boat. The way those fish acted like they don't get fished at night very hard. All of the night fish hit about halfway to the boat. I keep heading down the bank some and come to a nice little secondary point. Had a great hit on my spinnerbait, but didn't get it. Casted a shakeyhead across the point and caught a 13 incher. Now its plenty light enough so I head down river to explor. Found a beautiful point with deep water on both sides and the tip of the point was 22ft. Fish were loaded there, but all 12 inchers.
Caught 6 of em there. So head on down river some more. I see the dam and fish it a bit. Nothing there. Head on. Next stop was nice flat point that topped out right at 15ft and had some grass on it. Caught two chunky 15 inchers there on a shakey head. I start seeing the bass blowing up on bluebacks, so I changed directions. Put on a tiny spook. Caught another 5 dinks on it. Now I have found a nice grassy flat thats about 12-15ft. Decide to throw a jerkbait at em. It worked too. Caught 3 on it there ( all keepers), but missed several more. The faster and harder you jerk the pointer the more bites you get. Spots are crazy !! emoLaugh Spent the rest of the day checking out places and eliminating water. Had a great time and caught a bunch of fish. Best 5 would have easily been 10lbs but not much more than that. Lures that produced. Shakeyhead, night spinnerbait, jerkbait, pop r, dropshot, tiny spook. I caught fish on everyone one of those lures. Just no big ones. I have a couple bad pictures I'll try and upload.
