Jim and I got on the water around 7:30 this morning.
Started off and fished just about the entire trip the way I've been fishing all summer up there. That is dropshots on dropoffs.
Today the water temps were alot cooler (82.5F) then they have been of course, found fish a little deeper than they have been all summer. We fished 4 or 5 points this morning, all but one were mainlake points. We boated 19 fish today, not the best in numbers... but still good. Didn't catch any good sized fish other than a 2lb spot, but should start to soon hopefully. emoWorthy
The fish did not want to bite if they were by them selves, but once you came across a school you would catch a couple. So thats what we did, catch a couple out of a school... move on to find another. The schools of fish we were catching were anywhere between 18 and 30FT of water. Had a few schools show up on shallower, but none above 15FT of water would bite.
We also pulled a texas rig out for a little while and beat a bank with plenty of trees. A good 20 minutes of trying turned up nothing.
So we pretty much stayed out on the main lake today, caught all our fish on dropshots. We got off the water at 10:45AM as the sun started to heat things up pretty quickly. Jim and I were gonna get back out there this evening and see if the bite would be any better for a bigger spot, but of course the weather folks predicted 90% chance of rain at the last minute and we decide not to go. Never rained a drop emoBang emoLaugh
It was a great morning, but I know there are much better mornings to come... hopefully not to long from now.
