Oregon Fishing Update
#1
Oregon Fishing Update

November 8th - November 15th, 2001

Fisheries update: Sturgeon fishing has been good in the Columbia River Gorge with fat keepers falling to a wide variety of baits. Success rates with sturgeon were only fair in the Portland to Longview stretch. Tillamook Bay has slowed and is not expected to pick up until the next strong tidal series. Chinook may be found in the Trask and Wilson Rivers but fishing has been spotty. North and South Fork Nehalem anglers are having fun catch-and-release fishing for cohos, with bonus fishing for trout, steelhead and an occasional chinook. Yaquina River has chinook present, as does the Umpqua and Rogue. 'Half-pounders' are also available in the upper Rogue system. The Sandy and Clackamas Rivers are now closed to salmon angling, although Eagle Creek remains open. Winter steelhead are expected in these systems soon. North Fork Santiam anglers are finding bright, willing steelhead available. Crabbing remains excellent in the coastal bays and estuaries. No trout will be stocked this week but Walling and Wirth in Salem were stocked last week and should provide some planter action.

More info and subscriptions available at
http://www.theguidesforecast.com/

Get more Oregon fishing information at
http://www.theguidesforecast.com
