It was another tough "day" tournament for most of the field. Not many good sacks came to the scales. It rained on us twice and then got hot causing the humidity to be really bad. Finally that afternoon the breeze came up and cooled it off for us. There were two flights at blast off so there was a good number of boats for this one. I am not sure about the number but looked to be near 100 boats.

I do not know the exact weights but the top three were Brad James/Chuck James with just a hair over 17 lbs. for the win, Fluke and Randy came in second with 16 and some change and third was Treeman and partner with 15 and some change. Low weights for a CBA but this time of year they usually are. Me and Colby were in the hunt falling just a hair short of being in the money. They paid 10 places....we were eleventh. emoBawl Nudged out of the money by my good friend Churly....they had 13.88 and we had 13.74 Lbs. emoRolleyes Ninth was 14.00 so it was tight between the three of us.

Colby and I caught fish on three baits, a shakey head, a pig and jig and a crank. We tried several other baits that blanked for us. I even broke down there once and tried the "Wiskers" drop shot with a power minnow but only managed catfish. emoDoh You know I was desperate to have put that on. We caught a lot of bass in the tournament, I think we had just over 30 bass come in the boat with us loosing a couple more. Colby broke one off that may have put us in the money. emoGoofy Still a good day on the water with 9 confirmed keepers, we may have had a couple that I did not measure but we had several between 14 and 15 inches.

Started the morning shallow fishing grass flats. Had several fish but only one keeper. For us size was an issue in the shallow grass. Moved deeper an hour later that morning and tried some ledges. Only shorts and catfish came into our boat there. Moved again about 10ish to some back water drops and brush piles. We boated several there on shakeys with three more keepers and Colby's best of the day, a LM near three lbs., but the other two were just nice keepers(15 inchers). Left there and headed for the river. Hit some humps, just shorts again. Decided to try deep points off the river as that was about the only pattern I felt we had not tried. That was the ticket on finishing out our limit. Using jigs and shakeys we caught several more keepers including my best two with one 4 lber LM and a nice 19 inch smallie. Those two allowed us to cull and get our weight on up there considering how poor it was for most of the field. We ended up with 13.74 lbs for first out of the money (my usual spot). emoBooHoo

We did win a $150.00 gift card for a auto detail from Mizer Ford, a free entry into the next CBA tournament and we won 1st blast off for the next tournament. emoApplause Not a bad haul for us.

Hope to see a bunch of you all next weekend at the last open CFF tournament out of Riverpark. You do have to have 150 posts between you and your partner in enter. emoDance

C-ya on the water.... emoAngler Jmax
