Old Bent Rod invited Labman and I over for another walleye lesson and it was a lesson for all of us. Did someone mention that this lake is aka 'the dead sea'. Between the 3 of us, we must have made at least 3000 casts and only had 1 walleye to show for it and wouldn't you know it, but BR was the one to catch it. We have decided that Labman must be a jinx. emoPoke emoToast emoBig

And the only fish that we caught wounded both Rick and Norman. The fish stabbed Rick in the toe with a dorsal fin and impaled one treble into Norman's thumb. Dr DK had to perform a hook extraction and BR got to witness his 2nd one. We thought that Norman was going to pass out and if he did, Rick would have had to give him mouth to mouth. emoBig
But after a short sitting down time and the bandaid that we found, the bleeding was stopped and he said later that it didn't even hurt.

We thought that conditions would be perfect with the cloud cover, but very soon after we began to fish, the lightning and rain ran us into a covered boat slip to wait out the quick rain squall that passed on to the north. We ran back out to our spot and had been fishing about 5 minutes when we heard a strange sound. Rick asked - "Is that wind or rain"? We couldn't see any rain for about 30 seconds and before we could get the engine started, the bottom dropped out of the sky and we got a little wet as we scurried back to the boat slip. Another 5 minutes passed before the rain let up for good and apparently, the fish did too.

Labman had two runs on a gulp minnow, but no hookups. If I got a bite, it was from the numerous stumps that we came in contact with. Rick missed 1 or 2 bites and caught the only fish of the day just before Norman and I were about to cry 'uncle'. That one fish caused us to fish for another fruitless hour. But we had a great time laughing with Rick and had a blast just being on this beautiful lake.

We are coming back until we get this thing down right, but I will never come over on a 1/2 moon phase again. Either new or full moon phase for me next time.

Thanks for putting up with two old codgers today, Rick. Sorry that we couldn't help you out any. We will do better next time. emoBig
