Hal, Chick, Mixed - Crappie-cat-'gills-bass, 9-21-10, Big Jim
#1
I met Big Jim at his Cabin just before 7 AM and we loaded the boat with gear to go crappie fishing, Wink What a beautiful morning and Jim was really ready to go because he hadn't been in a couple weeks due to illness, Sad During the day we hit shallow and deep docks, bluffs, blow downs, and ledges. The good fish were on deep docks, at least 13-15 FOW. Most of the count was an 8 to a 10 and a lot of the fish were caught on the fall, emoTongue emoThumbsup Bayou Booger and Mo Glo Ghost were the bait of choice. We tried several other colors but just couldn't get a consistent bite going unless you used one of these two colors, emoScratch Even the Crystal Shad didn't produce like the Ghost today The keeper rate was probably about 75% but I did catch a couple little guys that were about 4 inches long, emoBigSmile Couldn't even get the jig all way into his mouth, emoBigSmile Only saw 4 or 5 others fishing and only 1 destroyer, emoBigSmile emoLaugh emoDance A little wind but no big deal and the water temp was 79* when we started and 81* when we quit.
We caught 1 cat, 3 'gills, 1 little spaaatt, and 57 crappie. All returned to the water to get bigger, emoSmile
On a side note my wife has been on me about getting her some drift wood for her flower garden so we loaded the boat with some unique pieces that we found and I brought those home to her. I got a big ole steak for dinner as a trade, not bad, steak for drift wood, emoHungry emoDance I'll do that any day, emoBigSmile
