hey got the old alum boat out yesterday and went up to huntington.. and i must say that me and fuzzdad had a most enjoyable time..we got there at about 9:30 yesterday morning by the time we got the boat set up it was 10:00 then started out by braking the pull rope on the trolling motor on the 3rd pull [mad] the slowed us down another 30min's.. finly we got the trolling motor running got out and started trolling.. i started out with spinner and worm fuzzDad started out with a gold phoebe we were geting hit but not hooking them!! so i went to a silver kwikfish and hit 2 fish in about 15min's.. so fuzzDad went to a boss flatfish and he hit 2 fish in about 20min's ..but we were still get alot more hits then catching fish..so i went to a bigger rainbow flatfish went about 20 min's and had a fish hit very hard and stay pinned.. got it right up to the boat and wow it looked like about 3 1/2 pounder..but we did not bring the net and was not hook that good so as i was trying to bounce it,it came unpinned.. but wow what a beautiful fish!!! so we started trolling again and fuzzDad put a big white with red spots flatfish on and we set out again fuzzDad started catching big fish right away and i did not get another hit on my rainbow for about 45 min's so i went back to the silver kwikfish and started getting fish again when it was all said and done i got more fish then fuzzDad but he was hitting the bigger fish.. we got about 15 to 20 apece..and greatest thing of all is i got to spend all day fishing with my Dad..

Great looking fish -- they don't get much prettier than those tiger trout. I seem to see a family resemblance! It looks like the water is still up really good. Petty4Life why didn't we go here Saturday with your boat instead of to Jordanelle with my boat?

Great report Fuzzy, looks like a fantastic trip and awesome pics as well. I too would like to know where huntington is. Looks like a fantastic getaway. Is there much camping there and what type of boat can you put on the water?

Great report fuzzy! Were any of those beautiful tiger trout more than 17 1/2 inches? That's the current catch-and-release record for tiger trout. You may have the new record!
I went to Huntington once, a couple of years ago. I took my float tube out there and caught them casting a black wooly bugger on sinking fly line. They are beautiful fish! One thing that drove us nuts there were the thousands of flies! There were biting deer flies and regular bothersome ones. But they covered you, even with bug spray on they wouldn't leave you alone. There is no campground at the lake, although there are a couple in the area, I think near electric lake. There are some places you can camp right near the shore, though, that are pretty good, just no facilities. We set up camp there, but by afternoon the flies drove us so mad we said forget it and went home!

that would be interesting to find out. that looks more like a broken tail to me. most of the infected fish i have seen from whirling disease is bent or oddly shaped in the middle of the back. but im not a expert on it. it would also be interesting since it is a hybrid and suppose to be more resistant to the disease. interesting either way.

I love to fish Huntington but I mostly fish it through the ice. I've only fished it once in the summer. And I have NEVER pulled out the size of Tiger that you are showing in the photos.
I am hoping to get up there this fall with my canoe. Can you tell me the lure (color, size, etc) you used? Everything I try seems to be hit & miss. I would love to pull a Tiger out big enough to take a photo of. Plus, I'll be taking my 5 year old daughter up. When we asked her what she wanted to do for her birthday this year she said "I want to go fishing with daddy" - Boy, if that just don't melt ya!
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks - Rob
