Never pass up a deal on a good.
Thats my philosophy. Good old skeeter got a hold of me one day, and told me about a clearance like that.
The poles were only five foot ultra, ultra lights. But they were good graphite, cork handles, nice guides, and cheap. Normally they were $45.00
Now you may think $45.00 is a lot to pay for such a small rod that is so limited in what it can catch, but they were on sale for five bucks. I bought a couple and they are excellent rods, with excellent sensitivity, they cast very well, and are among my favorite rods to use. Granted they do best for panfish and small trout, but so called budget rods can often be the steal of a lifetime.
It would break my heart to loose one of those rods. They are such excellent rods.
The five dollar price tag doesnt fit with the rest of my rods that range from $65.00 - $150.00 but like I said, they are among my favorites. I may have to get in there and check out what they have.
You can never have enough fishing rods. Thats my other philosophy.
Thanks for the heads up.

Going along with that, you never have enough reels, lures, line types, swivels, hooks, sinkers, tackle boxes, or days fishing either! [cool]

Just an FYI - Fred Meyer carries Lamiglas poles - various sizes and about once (or twice) a year they will have a 50% off sale.
The salesman guy at sportman's says "They couldn't be the same Lamiglas rods as we carry". That's true they don't carry any of the $150 and up models at Freddy's... Like my wife would let me buy one...
So I got a nice 8' two piece Lamiglas rod for $65 - regular $112. But it took me almost a year to wait for the rod I wanted to get marked down. But it has been worth it.
[cool] I am happy with my $65 Lamiglas...

A stop in Wal-Mart's sporting goods dept. paid off the other day. The new years' line of IM7 Berkley rods just hit the shelves. All of last years models are on clearance. I picked up an IM6 Lightning Rod, one piece, 6'6" med/hvy spinning rod for jigging up deeper eyes and smaller macks. The rod was normally 45.99. I've seen them as high as 60. I picked it up for 14.00.
I've had a 6'6" med IM6 Lightning Rod casting rod for a couple of years and I like the way it fishes, so I jumped at the spinning rod. I'll let you know how it does after I've had a chance to use it.

Thanks Chris I stopped in there today and bought two south bend rods. One was a seven footer and the other a 4.5 foot ultra lite.

The store I got my rods at is just north of 12th street on wall ave. In Ogden, as of yesterday afternoon they still had a few spining rods left but mostly baitcast rods.

Need help choosing a rod. All they have in spinning is a 7' medium/fast and a 5.4' medium. I was looking for a 6' so one is too small and the other too long. I'm thinking the shorter one would be better for fishing from a tube, but I know rod length has alot to do with the purpose of the rod. I like to fish grubs, worms, spinners adn topwater (poppers and buzzbaits) What would you recomend?

myself i would need two for the lures your using i think the 5.4 would be fine for plastics i use a 5"5" med/action casting worn rod for a lot of my plastic fishing poppers and such i like a 6' 6" fast taper rod when you twitch your rod back to pop you want it to pull back not bend you get a much better action with a lot less work it will also take up the slack a lot better on a strike just my thoughts on it
