Gene0122 came down from Madisonville this AM to fish with the old Drumking. We launched the boat around 8:00 or so and started fishing on the bluff. We caught 2 nice crappie right off the bat and we thought that this would be a very good day. Well, it was eventually, but catching the fish was like pulling teeth until 11:05 AM when they suddenly turned on like gangbusters. My Casio fishing time watch gave the peak of the major movement this AM to be 10:50. Cheap thing. I need to buy a more accurate watch, I guess. emoBig
The fish slowed down a bunch around 12:30 to 12:45, so we moved. (We were fishing a dock by that time.)

We hit a couple more docks and caught a few more stragglers and called it a day at 2:00 pm. We fished with 1/32 oz jigheads and Gene experimented with different colors while I was raking the fish in on bg slab slayers and 2" minnows in the ghost color with a tail light. After about 15 minutes of throwing 1 color without any luck, Gene finally put on a ghost lure and caught fish on two consecutive casts. I have told people on the forum for several years now not to fall in love with a certain lure or color, but I'm about to violate my own sayings. Gene more than held his own once he started throwing the right lure.

emoBig

We saw Labman motoring up the river today and gave him a call on the phone to see what he was doing. Must have been a big secret cause he didn't tell us anything. emoPoke JK,

We released all fish today and our totals were 48 crappie, 1 smallmouth, 1 spotted bass, 1 white bass, 1 yellow bass, and 2 bluegills. I'm glad that the fish finally decided to bite today. I was getting embarassed taking Gene to all these good docks, bluffs, and stuff and only catching a straggler or two. When the fish turned on, the count was about 6, but outside of the feeding period, it took about 17 seconds to get a bite. Fish were deep then.

I enjoyed the fellowship today, Gene. We can probably do this again someday. Perhaps even on Tellico.
