I met M&M Marlon at the Soddy Ramp about 7:30 and we were off on a crappie hunt. Marlon hadn't had time to fish for a couple months and since it was his birthday I was determined to show him a good time. Didn't catch quite as many as I would have liked but surely found some real slabs. We ended the day around 1:30 with 34 crappie, 2 'gills, and 1 small cat. What was really neat was the fact that we got Marlon a really nice TARP for his birthday, a 15 incher, emoThumbsup emoBig
I couldn't find one for myself although I did have 3 or 4 that were over 13, just couldn't break the 14 inch mark, emoScratch I called his wife this morning and explained the TWRA - TARP program to her and sent her the picture. She is gonna supprise him with the cert of the 15 inch fish, emoThumbsup He seem to be pretty lucky around his birthday, last year at this time we fished and he also caught a TARP crappie on that trip although it wasn't a 15 incher, emoSmile
We used BG Patroit and Outlaw Specials for best results and fished in water from 12 feet to 40 feet. I caught one 12 inch crappie from 35 feet deep and when I got him to the top his eyes were almost popped out and he was already dead, emoScratch I guess that was just too much stress, emoRedface I hate to loose them that way. We turned all fish back for another day. Also picked up some new lures (Lake Fork Trophy) at Soddy Tackle, look like pretty good baits and lookin' forward to tryin' them out ASAP
On a side note we watched a doe swim the lake, guess she didn't like the west side, emoRolleyes
