For $400, should I get a Team Daiwa Pluton or a Shimano Calcutta? What are some of the pros and cons of both? I'm looking to use 30lb braid line with witch ever one I get.

Yea that is a bit out of my range too... I might think you could look on Cabela's or Basspro shops and see ratings and feed back there though...

save A LOT of $$$ go with the field and stream tec spec baitcast reel!!!! Best ever 7.2:1 gear ratio, magnetic cast control system! I have and it rocks! I NEVER get backlash (this may be because i know how to cast with a baitcaster), and I can cast SO far.

That looks like a very nice reel, thanks for sharing. My 1st baitcast was a Shimano Curado. Nice reel back in the day, but now Very much out of date. Something like 3.2:1 heh and talk about over priced! I am finished buying the high dollar reels that the pros use. As long as I can find something that is smooth, and can really whip out a crankbait... Had been looking at the Pinnacle baitcasters at Wal-Mart, finally bought one, not expecting too much... HOLY CRAP! I would have never believed it if you had told me, but these reels are amazing! Bought the Pinnacle Vision Slyder, that is equipped with the "Finesse Wheel" and 7.0:1 NOTHING LIKE IT OUT THERE!!! ANYWHERE! Take a look, http://www.tackletour.com/reviewpinnacleslyder.html Well worth the price if you can find one, Pinnacle is phasing them out... I am going back to Wal-Mart and buying all that they have left here in Cheyenne, if not I saw a couple on ebay for $60 for the pair! Have a good un... [signature]

Hey, guys. There is another choice out there and they are made right here in the US. Ardent has some very high quality reels and they can be found at very competitive prices at the online store beat the big box boys.
