I haven't been fishing in I don't know when due to work and family stuff so Saturday morning I had the chance and off I went. I got on the water about 9:30 planning to look for bass with crappie as my backup. I fished a grass edge for a while and nothing so I moved to a hump in Harrison Bay and nothing. There was no water flow and I thought it was going to be a waste of time. I decided to try a dock for crappie and was striking out when my phone rang. It was Mark and after a little discussion I picked him up at HBSP. While I waited for him I managed to catch 5 crappie under the dock with 4 of them being keepers but not good keepers. I picked Mark up and we decided to try bass fishing out on the main lake. After a while with not even a hit we moved to another main lake area and after a few casts I got a good hit on a C'rigged plastic worm in about 20' of water. I knew it was a big fish and I also knew it wasn't the right species. It put up quite a fight and I suspected that is was a flathead which is was. Attached is a picture of the beast. I didn't have any scales but it was the biggest fish that I've ever landed. It would have went 20+ lbs for sure. After landing the cat we moved to some main lake docks and managed to catch quite a few really nice crappie. I would guess we caught and released 12 to 15 with some really nice 13" fat ones. We also caught 2 more smaller catfish all on 1/32 oz. P.A. . The count was mostly 6 to 10. I had a great time and I'm really glad Mark called because after I picked a "guide" up the fishing got much better and his price was right emoLaugh . It was a really nice day to be on the water and made even better with good company emoThumbsup .
