gene0122, Watts Bar, Crappie, 11-22-10
#1
Headed on over to Watts Bar this morning to check on the crappies.
The water, now being lowered made a big portion of my choice docks now un-fishable.
But it has also made some otherwise un-fishable docks now fishable, as some of them contributed to the live well. I can get under those blame cross beams now. emoBigSmile
With the water being down I did a whole lot of scouting today. I really liked seeing a huge brush pile sitting on one dock getting ready to be dropped in the water. Made my heart skip a beat. You know I made a waypoint on that dock.
Marked a few other docks that I could see were brushed up after pulling a few slabs out from their cover.
The majority of the fish caught today were really nice fish. Even got a 14 3/4 TARP from a blow down using the Fork Lake Tackle lure that M17-GLOCK gave me on friday. That one lure put 3 TARPs in the boat for me until a bluegill tore it in half making it pretty much useless. emoBawl Went to using the same MO-GLO outlaw special color in the BG Shad to finish out the day before the white caps started rolling in and forced me to leave.
Ended up with 16 Crappie with only 3 throwbacks, 5 yellow bass, 1 catfish, 1 gill, and 1 largemouth bass. Hooked into one fish that was huge as it half spooled me before stopping. I pulled and pulled for sometime trying to move this thing but I eventually straightened the hook and it pulled free. I think it was a big ole drum. No slime on the line.
Most all fish were caught on a 6 count which was pretty consistent with the Chick this past Friday.
