Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a "jig" to a Walleye fisherman, what we bass fishermen call a "single tail grub?" If so... then the answer is yes. If no, then what exactly does a Walleye fisherman consider a "jig" to be?

Walleye rigs have small beads as well as a blade on the rig. The grub is usaully alot smaller than the ones we use for bass fishing. I just use a grub with a jighead or split shot.3' grubs in white, work well for me on smallies.

[cool][#0000ff]"Jig" is a kind of generic term for any lure with a lead head and either plastic, hair, feathers or some kind of synthetic dressing added for attraction. They are made in a wide variety of sizes, shapes, colors and "actions"...to appeal to all species of fish. There are no specific jigs that can be used only for one species. If they appeal to any kind of fish that fish will eat it. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Jigs are most commonly made to imitate natural fish food...like worms, leeches, crawdads or minnows. And they are most effective when fished in a manner to mimic the natural actions of these baits. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]There are also lots of jigs made in wild colors that are especially appealing to specific species...like walleyes. But that does not mean that other fish won't hit them too. Bass can be finicky at times and seemingly only hit a certain size, shape and color. However, when they are active they often smack just about anything. And there are times when they are in a neutral or inactive mode that something wild and different will trigger a "reaction bite".[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I fish several lakes that have both walleyes and smallmouth bass...and some also have largemouths...and/or perch, crappies, catfish, white bass or other species. I have many multi-species days in which I catch 5 or more species on the same jigs. The trick is to vary your depth, speed and action you impart to the jig to cover as much water as possible and reach as many fish as you can...with whatever it takes to get them to bite.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If you were referring to the "walleye rig" that has beads and a spinner...a "crawler harness"...that also catches many other fish of many other species. They were designed for walleyes but they have what it takes to appeal to other species too.[/#0000ff]
