Today 9/9/03 I boarded the Long Beach Sport Fishing boat at six oclock. Eight-thirty found me at the oilrigs that are halfway between the coast and Catalina. Pretty early on we started hooking into red snapper and small sand dabs. Occording to the fish, the bait of choice was squid. I seemed to do best using squid cut into strips. I caught a three and a one lb snapper myself, but other people were catching more than me. Particularly the crew. Someone caught a Barber fish
which I had never seen or heard of before. It had yellow and orange vertical stripes. There were a few other interesting catches including two large, 26" or so fish that someone referred to as some type of cod. Just thought I'd give a report, thanks for reading.
