So, I'm pretty knew to fishing. I usually just use whatever lure my dad has on his pole, But what lures are best to catch the Small Mouths, Large Mouths, and Rock Bass that are in the retention pond by my house? They are pretty small usually ranging 5-12 inches about 90% of them being closer to 5 inches. If you could post a link to the lure so I can see what it looks like and go out and buy it i'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Try light line and try top water lure.teeny or tiny torpedo get the smallest. or smallest rapala with 2 trebles. or a small popping bug.I would try a 4inch zoom lizzard hooked weedless with a size 1hook use tiny bullet weight or split shot, I like to run it on the surface.

Is this a fairly new lake? Seems like to me it was just stocked considering the bass are only about 5 inches. Umm i would say try using a little grub or a small worm.

Roostertails and Beetlespins:
It is really difficult to fish these lures incorrectly. Throw them out and reel them back in. Try different retrieval speeds. Sometimes the Roostertail requires a short jerk at the beginning of the retrieve to get the blade going.

Yea lots of good advice here so far... I would also suggest a few Rat-L-Traps... Really easy cast and reel, good for shallow or deep water...

Or try a small rapala minnow, they are the easiest thing to fish in my opinion, you just cast it out and reel it in the lip on it keeps it under water, i have caught a ton of fish on that lure/
