My family and I spent the weekend at Henrys and the fishing was a little slow. But our persistence paid off. My wife, 3 sons, and myself all ended up catching at least one fish.
As you can see from the pics my 3 year old out fished all of us. Pretty funny when the little guy with the scooby doo pole catches the big ones! He caught one late Friday night on a worm on the bottom and the other about mid-day on Saturday on a worm and bobber. I thought the bobber would be a waste of time but he insisted on using it. Shows how much Dad knows!
One fish was 24" and the other that he caught on the bobber was 25". On his first fishing trip to Henrys my 3 year old son tied and broke my biggest fish record up there. Pretty funny how it goes! I think he is my new lucky charm. We are going to put one of the fish on the wall for him but that might get expensive. He will probably catch a bigger one next time we go!
We all had alot of fun and the weather was beautiful. We couldn't have asked for a better weekend.

[#000050]I got up there Friday around noon with wind and snow. The Fish were still in the spawn with very few fish out in the lake. Temps were 48 degrees. Saturday, the sun came out and some fish moved into the lake. Managed five fish on Saturday and 5 more on Sunday morning. Temps ended up being 52 by Sunday noon.[/#000050]
[#000050]There was a State Park boat tied up at the State Park ramp and no one was fishing on the dock, just the usual combat fishing from shore targeting the spawners. No bugs at all which was really nice for a change. I expect big hatches by this coming weekend.[/#000050]

I know what you mean about no hatch! I do think bugs will help. We noticed Damsel nymphs in stomach pump, but no adults...nothing. An occasional bug in the face or mouth, but really no bugs so to speak...so what the heck are they eating????[laugh][laugh][laugh]

So what are those miserable black flying insects that cover anything and make fishing miserable and stain anything the get squashed on?

[#000050]When I left Sunday, there was no bugs in the air or on the boats. I know this is unusual, but everything is running late due to Mother Nature...[/#000050]
[#000050]I amwith you. Normally it's a mess and I typically fish with a bug suit on. [:p][/#000050]

We arrived up there about 7:30 p.m on Friday night and the weather was calm but chilly. The shorts were bad planning for up there. I was freezing my *#@ off I just didn't want to waste anytime getting out on the lake before it got too dark. Saturday and Sunday were both very hot and calm while we were there. We left about 1:00 p.m on Sunday and it looked like some bugs might be starting to come on. I noticed larva all over on top of the water. I talked to a pontooner who caught 2 on a leech pattern. Quite a few people catching the spawners on midge pupas. But I think the spawners will eat anything. I didn't get to fly fish seems how I had the whole gang with me. I didn't want the wife to have to baby sit at camp while I was out by myself. Gotta keep the boss happy if I want her to let me go again! I'm glad she was with me other wise I probably wouldn't have gotten any pictures. I always forget the camera.

I ordered a few of them on line so I'm set. Going up the 12th for 5 days . Hoping to get a few days with no wind but then that brings the snow flies. Just a breeze would be good.
