small lake bass fishing
#1
ive been told during the summer the bass are in deeper water where its cooler. but in this lake the deepest it may get is 12-15ft ....maybe but its mostly 6-7ft across the lake. this lake has been drained so many times and dug up there is no such thing as a creek channel running through it somewhere. only place ive been able to catch bass at is with a 4inch minnow rapala around docks and with spinner baits around bushes that hang over the lake.what im lookin for is what do i catch them on and where at like stumps , brush, docks, etc.? let me know asap. thanks

It sounds like you got the hang of things. I imagine they would be holding tight to any structure, stumps-rocks, trees, reeds, etc. Over hanging trees are sweet. I like using jigs and tubes for stuff like that or slow rolling a spinnerbait next to the structure.

i wish i did but the only time i catch bass off a rapala is if i throw it rite on top of them or maybe a foot next to them then they strike it. and on the spinner bait its usually around this one bush, because the lake is so small i guess the only good one or something. there is a river that goes into it, but its very shallow back there 3ft maybe but plenty of shade and bushes hanging over it, ill try there this afternoon. i catch maybe 3 or 4 over a 3-5 hr. time period and thats bout it and those are small bass, ive caught 4+ lbers in here, and idk where they went.

Is this too old to post on? Sorry if it is. Just seems relevant in the middle of July as well.
I think the other posts nailed this as well. When the water warms up, I try to search the structures where theres deeper water nearby..like an easy escape for the fish to find cooler water. Then I usually try soft plastics like a black worm and work right by the heaviest of those structures.
Now since it's early July, I've been having some luck with topwaters in the afternoon. After the outside temp has cooled a bit and the shadows are longer.
Good Luck!
