My summertime fishing is about to come to an end and I had an opportunity to get another morning of fishing in so I rolled out of bed and went. I pulled into the WT boatramp at abt 6:45 and was shocked by the number of boats already there. When I go during the week (I usually do), I am usually the only boat in the lot before 6:50. This time I had to wait in line to put the boat in the H20 and had to park in the upper deck.

I scooted across the big ol’ ocean and dropped my jig in just after 7. According to recent trips and some friendly insider info, I was on a hot spot. Thirty minutes later I had proof either my fishing isn’t up to par or the spot isn’t as hot as I thought it would be. I managed to foul hook one keeper. I picked up the trolling motor and headed off. Two more spots that had produced recently produced nothing. I became desperate and ran even further to an oldie but a goodie. I picked up one keeper just shy of 13†(see below). I have been trying to only take pics of 13 or better, but considering my recent lack of success I thought I better snap a shot. I took off to some docks in 10’-15’ of water, knowing that if these did not produce it could be a bad day. It was after 9 and I had boated two keepers. I eventually began picking off one or two here and there. Slowly, but surely the number began to rise. I ran to another dock sitting in almost 20’ of water and let my 1/16oz ghastly sink to the bottom I worked it slowly toward the boat and tick. I thought “this may be a keeper.†The fish began to pull a little and surfaced. I knew I needed to grab the net (See below.) It was bigger than I had seen in a while. I boated it and thought this has a good chance of measuring 14â€. Alas, it was a little shy, but a good fish nonetheless (See pic on golden ruler). I picked up a few more fish and headed back.

There was a line getting out of the water at WT boat ramp. I did not know Saturdays on the water are that crazy. Well, I had fun and caught a few fish. I ended with 12 keepers, a bunch of throwbacks, and a couple of bass.
