Lower Provo
#1
Went to the lower Provo Monday night to fish the clouds of caddis that come off in the evening. At least that was the plan. The water is still high for this time of year and there were very few bugs flying around. When its normally epic evening caddis this time of year (and earlier) there were very few fish rising. I didn't go there to nymph and I didn't try it. Stuck with caddis patterns and got one to rise. That's it.

Saw some other guys hook up as it got dark. Very few risers that night. The abnormal fishing year continues.

I agree with you on that I mean its almost Sept [shocked][shocked] Normally this time of the year Id be throwing big old hoppers and stimu's but I tried that last weekend on the middle and noting [crazy] switch to a Goddard was able to pull a couple from the top. Strange season indeed

It has been a strange year, although in my past experience, by the time the end of August rolls around the evening caddis on the Provo are not quite as reliable as earlier in the summer, particularly as they are in late July. Staying past the time when you can't even see your fly anymore increases the odds, though.
