Ogden 11/17
#1
Fished up in the canyon this morning. Caught 6 Browns. 2 on dry flies 4 on a streamer. All were caught out of the same hole. They were staked really thick.. that hole probably had 50 fish in it. I did a great job of spooking most of them . Now that I know where there at I will approach it more carefully.

Here's a few pictures..

Looks like a good time! How's the water coming down the canyon? I think the biggest problem with people that fish the Ogden is they rush through every hole. I took about 2 hrs to go through about 500 yds of river. Caught about 20 fish. Later to have 3 guys push all the way up, hitting a hole here and there. Cover the same amount of river in about 20 minutes... Didn't see them catch a fish. Not only did they not caught a fish, they walked right past me, and started fishing above me, scaring all the fish! I was pissed! Luckily I was about done anyways. Definitely got to slow down on that river though and hit the holes. Try different stuff. there's definitely fish there.

Wow buddy that is awesome! I wish I lived closer to ya and I would have you guide me around that river! Well the twin and I are going to the middle provo mid week to chase the brown spawn on a stretch that we call "brown town". We can only hope to have an experience like yours dude! Fish on brother!

The water is crystal clear and barely moving. I usually am pretty careful and take my time but I was walking up on a spot I had never fished and had no idea i was about to spook those fish till it was to late. Plus the banks were overgrown on both sides so i had to cast directly up stream right over their heads. It was a really tight spot and hard to fish... but thats why there were so many fish.

Im far from being able to to guide anyone...lol. but thanks. The Ogden is full of fish but most areas are hard to get to. And the spot that are easy to get to are fished out.

I just noticed you have a Redington RS4/Okuma Sierra combo too. I think they're both really good for the money.

Those are some nice looking fish. I think I need to get out again next week when it warms back up.

Yeah its a decent setup. It works well for me in most situations. I just need to get better line. What do you use? I was on a budget when I got it so I ended up just getting Cortland 333 floating line and its not really cutting it. Getting new line is on the top of my list.

I like mine quite a bit. I really should upgrade my line too. I think I'm using the same kind of thing on my 3/4 wt. I won it from Roundrocks, so I went with it. It's not too bad, but I really should invest in something better someday. I think the sinking line on my 6wt is cheaper Cortland too, and it knots really badly all the time. I pretty much hate it. My 8wt I got some nice Scientific Angler bass line and I love it. I can throw some pretty big bass bugs with ease on it.
