SONAR for lakes - WHICH?
#1
Hello,
My name is Ariel and I am not a fisherman.
However I would like to buy a fishing sonar for my father. He fishes in lakes, in flat waters for carp most of the times.
He does not go to mountain lakes but to plain lakes.
Can you please tell me which sonar would be good for this type of fishing? Also, because I want to send it in my country, which it is not USA, I would need something that does not need to be plugged, as our plugs differ from the US ones.

Thank you for your help

Welcome to the site. I am not sure which would be able to be used because of the different voltages in your dads country but all of the fish finders as they are called need a 12 volt battery. This is what the fish finder would be pluged in to, so your dad would just need to be able to charge the battery.

There are so many fish finders to choose from the best advice I have for that would be at the store you would be purchaseing it from to help you make that decision.

Hello Michael,
Thank you for answering to my question. The problem is that I don't know any such store around and I do not have a car. The only way I can buy the sonar is from Internet. As I am a student here I do not have a lot of money. Maybe you can give me some names and I will check them online.
Thank you .

I would just google fish finder and start reading about them and you will then just need to choose one that fits your budget.

Hello Michael,
I found these three but i am not sure what type of battery they need. For instance in the specification area from that from Walmart it says that it does not use any battery (??)
Can you please take a look and let me know which one would be good for Romania? ( I am from Romania and I will take the sonar there)
Thank you very much.

All of them need a battery because they have to have a power source whether it is AA, C, ro D ot a small 7amp style battery that will equal 12 volts. 12 volts is what they need to opperate and that battery system will need to be charge or replaced as in the case of the aa, C, or D batteries.

Any of those will be fine, again it is what you can afford. You might consider purchaseing a battery like a 7amp 12 volt battery and charger that will work with Romanias electrical suppy, but that will be determined by your budget or if these items might be available over there.
