I'm not sure if anyone has made a post reguarding this in the past, but as your Ohio Chairman I thought I would pass the invitation on to you. You probably hear us talking about CAG quite often on the board. CAG stands for the Carp Anglers Group, a group formed for the preservation of "The World's Greatest Sportfish".
What does CAG do for you? Ohio has hosted numerous fish in's over the past few years. the 2003 season saw 6 events, and the 2004 season will have 7 events, one being a CAG Ohio Carp Man Challenge. Our fish ins are strictly for fun, and great friendships are to be had. We normally fish from Fri through Sunday, but you are not required to make it for the full weekend. You don't even have to show up if you choose not to. Your membership dues go strictly toward CAG needs, the Chicago Carp Classic awards, as well as awards for various state competitions that we may decide to hold. For your membership fees, you receive a great vinyl window decal of the CAG logo (which removes very easily if you wish to remove it), a CAG logo patch, as well a 4 issues per year of the NACA (North American Carp Angler), the publication of CAG. The membership rates are as follows:
New Member: $20 for 1 year $35 for 2 years $50 for 3 years
Renewal: $20 for 1 year $35 for 2 years $50 for 3 years
I'm not here to pressure anyone, just to pass the information along if you happen to be interested. It's a great cause, and the information received in the NACA is well worth the $20 membership fee. All the fancy gear isn't needed to carp fish. I've done it for 20 years w/o the use of fancy gear, but I'll tell you now....the fight out of a 5lb carp vs. a 5lb bass is much greater. Sure they aren't great table fare, but do you eat bass that you catch?
